Hey, guys.
Those of you who still owe me late work, I need it emailed to me by 7pm tonight (Thursday), because I need to turn in grades tomorrow.
Email me if you're in dire need of an Incomplete.
It was great having you in class this summer, and especially great to see old friends. Don't hesitate to email me with questions, and if you need anything (editing help, letter of recommendation), feel free to ask.
Take care, and have a relaxing rest of summer!

Final Week!
Hey, guys. We're really in crunch time right now.
I need you to get late work in to me ASAP, because I have to turn in all my grades by Friday. That's a lot of reading for me, in not a lot of time.
I returned grades and comments on essay 1 and the annotated bibs this weekend, so if you didn't get them, see me.
Reminders:
Be sure to email me your topics for the final by the end of the day Monday.
Tuesday: Finish the novels and be ready for our last discussion. \
Wed: In the lab, finishing Classical Argument Essays
TH: Writing finals. We're in a DIFFERENT lab. We'll be in lab M-214.
I won't be able to accept work turned in after the final, there just simply isn't time for me to get grades in. See me with any issues and problems.
Woot.

Classical Argument Format
Ok, Classical Argument Format
Introduction (Stylized and fancy)
Background on the controversy (So the reader understands why your argument is important)
Argument (Structured, formal, 2-ish paragraphs)
Counter-argument (A nod to the other side, so you don't sound like you're a 4 year old arguing)
Rebuttal (Counter-counterargument, where you explain how the other side may have some points, but you're still right. Your best arguments should go here. 1-2ish paragraphs)
Conclusion (Stylized and fancy.) DO NOT write "In conclusion" or any spiritual equivalent.
Use 2-3 quotes per paragraph. Cite correctly. Sandwich your quotes, use them to support YOUR argument. Don't have the paper revolve around the quotes.
Don't forget Works Cited page.

Quick Review of Citations
1.) Quote, with author and page in parenthetical citation
2.) Author not in parenthetical
3.) As a paraphrase
“Satire is one of the most capacious and most misunderstood literary terms”
Some information about comedy and stuff, “Satire is one of the most capacious and most misunderstood literary terms” (Colletta 1). More information responding, etcetera.
Some information about comedy and stuff, as Colletta writes, “Satire is one of the most capacious and most misunderstood literary terms” (1), and more response to that quote.

More on the Homework for Tuesday 6/21
Put every step you take on a word document, put your name on it, print it, and bring it to class.
Make sure you have 10 steps, and make sure you have a definite controversy (with 2 sides) to explore for essay 1, with an idea of resources and issues.
My example from class:
1.) Googled “Controversies in education”
2.) Went to link http://news.change.org/stories/top-five-public-education-controversies
3.) Chose this topic to pursue: High-Stakes Testing instead of Investing
4.) Opened http://www.gse.upenn.edu/review/feature/supovitz
5.) Found 4 reasons we test... etc.
